The terrorist attack in India-administered Kashmir last week, which killed at least 26 tourists, has escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. The two countries have exchanged small arms fire on the Kashmir border for the fourth consecutive night, according to Reuters on Monday. This situation is pulling at the heartstrings of the international community.

Meanwhile, voices calling for restraint from both sides continue to grow around the world. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday that China welcomes all measures that will help cool down the current situation and supports carrying out fair and just investigations at an early date. He noted that as the neighbor of both India and Pakistan, China hopes that both countries will exercise restraint, work in the same direction, handle relevant differences properly through dialogue and consultation, and jointly uphold peace and stability in the region.

Earlier on Friday, the UN Security Council condemned the terrorist attack as "criminal and unjustifiable," reaffirming the need for states to "combat by all means" threats to international peace and security resulting from acts of terrorism, while a UN spokesperson urged both India and Pakistan to show maximum restraint to ensure the situation does not deteriorate further.

The heightened tensions have drawn global attention for two main reasons. First, the historical conflicts between the two countries, including three India-Pakistan wars and ongoing military confrontations in Kashmir, are a cause for concern. In recent years, relations between the two nations have been marked by serious crises over Kashmir, such as the Uri attack in 2016 and the Pulwama attack in 2019. Although these incidents eventually subsided, the spark of tension has never fully died.

Second, many media reports have emphasized the identity of India and Pakistan as nuclear-armed countries. This identity is a common concern for the world. The issue of nuclear weapons complicates the situation between the two countries, and any escalation could trigger a wider conflict or even a global security crisis.

The attack on innocent tourists is horrific and unacceptable. However, many aspects of the incident, including the identity of the perpetrators and their motivations, remain unclear. India has accused Pakistan of being involved in the attack, a claim that Pakistani officials have denied. The New York Times reported that India has yet to officially identify a group responsible for the attack and has presented little evidence to support its allegations against Pakistan.

Besides, according to The Hindu, the group that initially claimed responsibility for the attack on social media, the Resistance Front, later denied its involvement, attributing the earlier claim to "a coordinated cyber intrusion." These developments serve as a reminder for all parties to remain rational during sensitive times and to avoid premature judgments that could escalate the situation. They also highlight the crucial need for an impartial investigation to be carried out as soon as possible.

Currently, with two major regional conflicts already affecting the international landscape, any new flare-up in South Asia will only further destabilize global security, which is detrimental to regional peace and development. In this context, it is essential to control the risk of an uncontrollable situation triggered by small clashes or misjudgments. All parties concerned must work to de-escalate the situation and oppose any actions that fuel division or intensify tensions. Safeguarding peace and stability in South Asia is not only a shared responsibility among all parties involved, but also the collective expectation of the international community.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently behind bars after conviction on corruption charges, has reacted to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 unarmed, innocent civilians, most of them tourists. However, Khan stopped short of condemning the brutal act and instead tried to draw political mileage from the tragedy.

In his first reaction to the horrific terror attack, on Tuesday (29 April), the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader called the incident “deeply disturbing and tragic,” yet chose not to denounce the terrorists responsible. Instead, he tried to divert attention by reviving old narratives, calling the 2019 Pulwama attack a “false flag” operation, and trying to pin the blame on the Indian government.

DJ, The India-Pakistan crisis should be priority # 1 te de-escalate...

#2 priority has to be USrael-Iran...with lots of fighting/killing on many fronts (Gaza, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran...).

#3 UKraine becoming more desperate by the hour-with the US moving out and EU/UK at the end of what they may offer...

All these wars are part of a west-more and more US- confrontation with "the rest" of the world.

We "may be lucky" and not end in a nuclear war...

DJ,Some countries may try to de-escalate by standing on the sides of both key allies-India and Pakistan...US "diplomacy" in the latest months proved to be a disaster...

DJ, Defconwarningsystem is doing a good job-also by making clear they "try to get a view" but there is a lot of false info (and empty words) around.

Modi-India PM is expected to be at the victory parade in Moscow on may 9. The Chinese military will also be part of that parade...maybe also (North) Korean forces, Iranian ?

Behind a lot of closed doors there will be lots of talks/pressure. Both India and Pakistan need a lot of import before starting/keep going a war.

In part it may be cooperation of other countries that may avoid/limit a possible India-Pakistan war. IF !!! the US is willing to avoid that war-that would break up BRICS/Asia-it may ask "steps" from BRICS+ on trade/US$...

The US may be willing to send weapons to BOTH India and Pakistan to start the "break up of BRICS+"...Europe/UK may not have those means...

Russia-China-Iran-Indonesia/ASEAN "surround" India-Pakistan and may have military means (Electronic Warfare, cutting of power, blackmail/dirty war) to contain the crisis without being pulled into the conflict.

    https://ddgeopolitics.substack.com/p/maga-globalism-how-the-maga-movement or https://ddgeopolitics.substack.com/p/maga-globalism-how-the-maga-movement ;

It was announced this month that SpaceX, Palantir, and Anduril led a bid to build The Golden Dome, a new missile defense system for the United States that President Donald Trump promised during his 2024 campaign.

Plans for the system include building and launching “400 to more than 1,000 satellites circling the globe to sense missiles and track [missile] movement,” Reuters reported, and the system would also include “a separate fleet of 200 attack satellites armed with missiles or lasers would then bring enemy missiles down.”

What was most shocking about the proposal made to the Pentagon was SpaceX offering the Golden Dome as a "subscription service in which the government would pay for access to the technology, rather than own the system outright.” Yes, Silicon Valley wants to build a space-based missile system that is independent of the United States government, rented, not owned, by the US. This leads us to wonder whether or not Silicon Valley intends on renting this system to other countries, such as Israel, as well.

While it is actually in the Unites States’ national security interests to be able to protect itself from a missile attack, the question of what such a system could be used for in the wrong hands must be asked, especially given that a privatized missile defense system has the potential to fall into the wrong hands far more easily than a nationalized one. If the US were able to achieve a state of total missile impenetrability from a project such as this, international relations theory as we know it would change forever. In international relations, the theory of Mutually Assured Destruction (M.A.D) has been the prevailing theory for why nuclear war has not broken out between two nuclear powers up to this point in history. If the United States did not have to worry about a retaliatory strike from another nuclear power because it possessed the means to defend itself from such an attack, that would allow the United States to wield its nuclear arsenal however it chooses, without fear of Mutually Assured Destruction. Furthermore, if such a system was placed in the hands of the Israelis, they could also use their nuclear arsenal to destroy any country they deem to be a threat.

It is not a baseless hypothesis to say that the Israelis could acquire the Golden Dome technology, as Palantir, SpaceX, and Anduril have been in bed with the Israelis for many years. Palmer Luckey, who is a self-described “radical Zionist," is the founder of Anduril, a start-up company which builds AI-powered drones and surveillance software and which was backed by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund and Andreessen-Horowitz, a venture capital firm with extensive ties to the Israeli intelligence apparatus. Peter Thiel’s Palantir has provided the IDF and Israeli Intelligence Unit 8200 with facial recognition and AI-enabled targeting systems in Gaza over the past two years, actively facilitating the ongoing genocide. SpaceX has already helped Israeli satellite company ImageSat launch multiple satellites into space. ImageSat provides satellite intelligence to both the IDF and Israeli Intelligence Unit 9900, and has provided satellite details to the IDF of the former Syrian Arab Army’s weapons and military base sites as well as Yemen’s. We covered Musk’s extensive ties to the Israelis as well as his fraudulent political persona in a previous article, which you can find here.

Northrop Grumman, Boeing, RTX, and Lockheed Martin are also expected to be involved in the development process of the Golden Dome, demonstrating that SpaceX, Palantir, and Anduril all are a part of the same military industrial complex and for-profit war machine that has put the interests of defense contractors over the American people for decades. What these contractors actually believe politically is not the same as what they present publicly.

DJ, Several countries are working on anti-missile systems in space...

Indian fighter jets patrolling above occupied Kashmir were forced to flee after the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) scrambled its jets, state media PTV News reported on Wednesday, adding to tensions between the two countries in the wake of the Pahalgam attack.

India, without offering any evidence, has implied cross-border linkages of the attackers, while Pakistan’s political and military leadership have strongly denied any involvement. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for a neutral probe into the incident.
