https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kleverlandish or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kleverlandish ;
Kleverlandish (Dutch: Kleverlands or Dutch: Kleeflands; German: Kleverländisch) is a group of Low Franconian dialects spoken on both sides of the Dutch-German border along the Meuse and Rhine rivers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_German or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_German ; Low German[b] is a West Germanic language[12][13] spoken mainly in Northern Germany and the northeastern Netherlands. The dialect of Plautdietsch is also spoken in the Russian Mennonite diaspora worldwide. "Low" refers to the altitude of the areas where it is typically spoken. Low German is most closely related to Frisian and English, with which it forms the North Sea Germanic group of the West Germanic languages https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanseatic_League or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanseatic_League ;The Hanseatic League[a] was a medieval commercial and defensive network of merchant guilds and market towns in Central and Northern Europe. Growing from a few North German towns in the late 12th century, the League expanded between the 13th and 15th centuries and ultimately encompassed nearly 200 settlements across eight modern-day countries, ranging from Tallinn in Estonia in the east, Bergen (Bjørgvin) in Norway to the North to the Netherlands in the west, and extended inland as far as Cologne, the Prussian regions and Kraków, Poland. DJ, Several "forms of" Dutch were spoken in a large area of Europe-linked to trade...It was hitler who prohibited "Low German" in 1936...still quite a lot of German troops moving into NL in may 1940 understood Dutch... Basic point; Borders change !!! Be realistic on that ! Wars may make matters (much) worse, talks may do a better job !
